2024 Mine Reclamation Symposium Details

The British Columbia Technical and Research Committee on Reclamation proudly presents:

B.C.’s 47th Annual Mine Reclamation Symposium

When: September 23^rdto 26^th, 2024

Where: Delta Hotel and Convention Centre in Burnaby, BC and virtually

Theme: Biodiversity in Reclamation

What: The BC TRCR is proud to again present both in-person and technical sessions virtual options.

The Symposium features a four day symposium including workshops (TBD), a field trip to aggregate sites in the Lower Mainland, two full days of in-person and online Technical Sessions, Awards banquet and networking opportunities.

In the meantime, requests for workshop proposals from Facilitators to host either a half day or full day workshop that address a wide range of reclamation practices including Indigenous leadership, partnerships, planning, implementation, effectiveness monitoring, and reclamation related regulations. The theme for the 47^th Annual Symposium is Biodiversity in Reclamation. The proposals are due by April 26, 2024. Please see the 2024 Call for Workshops.

We also request audiovisual materials of reclamation efforts at your BC mine operation(s) for use at the Symposium. We are asking for confirmation of participation including completion of attached submission form by June 30th, 2024, and submission of footage by September 6th, 2024, to allow time for video compilation and production. As a reminder, last year the Jake McDonald Annual Mine Reclamation Award was awarded to Imperial Metals – Mount Polley Mine and Habitat Remediation Working Group, for the remediation of Hazeltine and Edney creeks following the breach of the Mount Polley Mine tailings storage facility in 2014.
