2013 Winner Science Fair Winner and TRCR Sponsor Report – 2012-2013

The 2013 Science Fair Award for $500.00 was given to Megan Nantel from David Thompson Secondary in Vancouver for her project on “Wild Diesel Destroyers“.

2012 Winner (Read Article)

The 2012 Science Fair Award for $500.00 was given to Aridam Kumar and Ashiv Bansal from Enver Creek and Semiahmoo Secondary for their project the Green Road.

2011 Winner (Read Article)

The 2011 Science Fair Award for $500.00 was given to Yulian “Kevin” Shi from Sir Winston Churchill Secondary whose project was titled – “Marvelous Mites, the effects of food combinations on C. Lactis reproduction“. Kevin was a member of Team BC at the Canadian Wide Science Fair representing the Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair.

2010 Winner

The Science Fair Award for $500.00 was given to Sungjea Cho from Collingwood School (Greater Vancouver Regional Science Fair). The title of the project was “Wind turbines on highways – a viable power generation system?”

2009 Winner

The 2009 Science Fair award for $500.00 was given to Charlotte Clegg at Stratford Hall, Vancouver, for her project titled Bioluminescence – a study of effect of ocean pH on the degree of bioluminescence.

2008 Winner

The 2008 award for $500.00 was given to Grace Wang at the South Fraser Regional Science Fair for her project entitled Sour Soil: the resiliency of nitrogen fixation capabilities of Rhizobia in acidic and alkaline soil.

2007 Winner

The 2007 Science Fair award for $500.00 was given to Robyn Thom and Thomas Sun at Sir Winston Churchill Secondary School in Vancouver, BC. Their work was on Diblock Copolymers and Epoxidized Carthamus Tinctorius Oil as Novel Polyvinyl Chloride

2006 Winner

The 2006 Science Fair award for $500.00 was given to Taryn McDonald who was in Grade 12 at Sardis Senior Secondary School in Cultus Lake, BC, Her work was entitled: Barking up the Wrong Creek – Pacific Giant Salamanders.

2005 Winner

In 2005, the TRCR’s BC Science Fair Award ($500) went to Tiffany Lu, a Grade 12 Student at the Winston Churchill Secondary School in Vancouver for her project Biopolyurethane Rigid Foams from Isolated Lignins.

An additional award was provided to Amy McQuarrie at St. Margaret’s in Victoria by The BC Chapter of Canadian Land Reclamation Association for the Coates Award for BC Science Fair’s ($100).

2004 Winner

In 2004, the TRCR’s BC Science Fair Award ($500) went to Katie Kotlarz from the East Kootenay Regional Science Fair for the project entitled Ashes to Ashes, Water to Dust.

2003 Winner

In 2004, the TRCR’s BC Science Fair Award ($500) went to Stephene Cumayas and Kevin Ma at the Killarney Secondary School for the Enviro-Botanique Project.
