Tony Milligan Book Award

Tony Milligan was a pioneer in mine reclamation in BC, a founding member of the TRCR and part of the reason Elkview won so many reclamation awards. Tony was also a role model for how to discuss controversial topics in a constructive and respectful manner. Tony passed away a number of years ago, and to honor his memory, the TRCR set up an annual book award to be given each year to the author(s) of the paper at last years symposium that best exemplifies Tony’s interests in the practical aspects of reclamation.

Marc Symbaluk, of Teck Coal, Cardinal River Operations received the 2009 Tony Milligan Book Award for his paper “Testing Landscape Modeling Approaches for Environmental Impact Assessment of Mining Land Use on Grizzly Bears (Ursus Arctos Horribilis) in the Foothills Region of West Central Alberta” which he presented at the 2008 Symposium.
