The 2008 Tony Milligan Book Award Winner

Tony Milligan was a pioneer in mine reclamation in BC, a founding member of the TRCR and part of the reason Elkview won so many reclamation awards. Tony was also a role model for how to discuss controversial topics in a constructive and respectful manner. Tony passed away a number of years ago, and to honor his memory, the TRCR set up an annual book award to be given each year to the author(s) of the paper at last years symposium that best exemplifies Tony’s interests in the practical aspects of reclamation.

Rodolfo Sousa and Marcello Veiga of the University of British Columbia received the 2008 Tony Milligan Book Award for their paper on “Implementing Programs to Improve Gold Recovery and Reduce Environmental Impacts by Artisanal Gold Mining in Brazil ” presented at the 2007 Symposium.
