Awards
To encourage student participation in reclamation-related fields, the BC Technical and Research Committee on Reclamation awards the Jake McDonald Memorial Scholarship, which is given to support a student (or students) in a scientific field related to reclamation. This scholarship was established in honour of Jake McDonald, former Senior Reclamation Inspector in the Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources.

Sara Duncan – MSc program at School of Environmental Studies at UVic. Thesis topic involved the investigation of the use of lichen transplants in reclamation of terrestrial lichen- containing communities in the northeast coal block in BC (First Coal) and the Athabasca oil sands (Suncor).
